Using buffs and other means you can go over 20 AC.
The problem is that this makes it so even a +5 hit will never hit outside of a crit, and lowering the AC of an enemy requires that you hit them.
I think effective AC should never go above 18. So you can have like, 26, but only 18 takes effect. If you get debuffed by like, 5, it would still be 18.

Move now have a "hit bonus" parameter which can go from -5 to +5. Also items can increase our hit bonus.
Hit bonus is added to your success roll. So you can go above 25-26 AC with your hit roll.
At least that's the idea I'm trying out.
Have you tried it with moves with hit_bonus?

Oh, I've tried it, but here's an example:
I have 18 from my stats. I can get 6 from wearing equipment, or even more
That puts me at 24.
Unless you roll a 20, +5 on your hit won't do anything, since 19 +5 = 24, you're gonna fail on the AC test.
You can get equipment with +5, but still.
Maybe cap the AC at 20 then?

This is based on battles I've experienced, mind you, and is mostly backed by anecdotal evidence. Ultimately I think the system will normalize once people reach a certain level. I've designed an ability to intentionally lower my AC while 'reloading' to give others a good chance at hitting me.
